My life is already pretty complicated. If we’re talking titles, I have many, but one title that I hold the most and can never every get fired from (well, my youngest jokingly tried) is, “MOM.”
I like to keep things less complicated when it comes to my food. I’ve taken on the ideal that the less the ingredients, the better it’s going to me for me. So I aboslutely love that I can just add an avocado to my protein shake and meal replacement powder to create something healthy, filling and delicious. I don’t always whip this shake up, just on days where I have a very early morning (6am) teaching Barre, Movement or Yoga. After I drink my ACV infused glass of water (apple cider vinegar), I’ll blend this together and head to class. Around 10am, I’ll drink the shake. If I don’t bring the shake with me, I have a tendency to reach for something quick and easy, and it’s never usually a protein bar. It’s usually a bag of chips.
Give the shake a try and let me know what you think. It’s a pretty simple shake and a very good base if you want to add more ingredients and get all ‘fancy’.
In my shake:
– 500g of almond or soy milk
– directed number of scoops of protein powder of your choice
(I use Herbalife Protein Powder in Vanilla) <—Click here to see what other Herbalife products I use)
– ice cubes
– 1/2 avocado
– chia seeds
– 1 tbsp Prana maca* powder
– dash of cinnamon
– 2 tbsp unsweetened slivered almonds or coconut shreds (optional)
Why Maca Powder & Chia Seeds?
Maca Powder – Maca root is a good source of carbs and protein, is low in fat and contains a fair amount of fiber. It’s also high in some essential vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, copper and iron.
Chia Seeds – Chia seeds are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, antioxidants, iron, and calcium.
